My name is Jenifer. I started my career as a Mass Communicator, but my passion for growth and problem-solving led me to transition into the tech industry where I now work as a Software Tester. It’s been a rewarding journey of learning, adapting, and building a career in tech.
1. What challenges did you face during your learning phase?
One of the challenges I faced was fitting into the system. I came from a non-technical background and was previously pursuing an entirely different field. So getting familiar with the sector was a major challenge.
How did you overcome obstacles and stay motivated?
I decided to not give up despite the fact that it seemed challenging. I constantly told myself that I could do it and I chose the path myself and so if others could succeed in it, I can too.
2. How did you discover Septa?
I discovered septa through a friend.
What drew you to our program, and what were your initial impressions?
What initially drew me to Septa Academy was a friend who had gone through the program. Seeing how well he was doing in his tech career after the training really inspired me. I decided to apply for the Septa scholarship, and by God’s grace, I was privileged to be selected as one of the recipients.
3.Describe the transformation you experienced.
It helped me become a great thinker, a more critical thinker and I noticed that tech is not for only specific people or people with a background in it, but for anyone who is determined to go into it and doesn’t relent.
4. How are you applying what you learned from Septa Academy today?
I am excited to share that i am applying my skills from septa academy in real-world settings! currently, i’m volunteering as a software tester at EHCC Tech, uTest, and actively seeking internship or junior roles in software testing to further grow my expertise.
How has your journey with Septa impacted your current pursuits or career?
It has opened my eyes to a lot of opportunities in the tech sector, particularly software testing. Journeying with septa made me realize that having a background in mass communication is not totally useless in transitioning to tech because as a software tester, you also need to have great communication skills. So, it has helped me fully utilize my skills.
5. What is your advice to people out there who want to transition into tech?
Yes, tech can be critical and analytical. However, if people can go into it and succeed, you can too. This can be possible by subjecting yourself under trainings with academies like Septa Academy.
