1. Can you introduce yourself to us?

My name is Olusegun Ayodeji Balogun. I am a Data Analyst with expertise in project management. Over time, my work with datasets and involvement in planning projects naturally opened me up to the world of project management, and that’s how I decided to pursue it more seriously.

2. What challenges did you face during your learning phase, and how did you stay motivated?
At first, studying Agile project management was a bit overwhelming. The methodologies and frameworks were new to me, and it took real effort to understand them. But those challenges actually shaped my mind and changed the way I think about problem-solving.

Were there moments I felt like giving up? Definitely. But I always told myself: only the weak give up, and I’m not weak (lol). That mindset kept me going.

3. What motivated you to join Septa Academy, and what were your expectations?
Since I was already in line with project management at my workplace, I wanted to enhance my skills in Agile project management and gain more structured knowledge. That’s what motivated me to join Septa Academy. My expectation was simple; I hoped to grow my knowledge and capacity as a project manager. And that expectation was met.

4. How would you describe the transformation you experienced at Septa?
The transformation was huge. One of the highlights was learning how to use the Jira tool. It gave me practical experience in managing people, coordinating teams, and engaging with stakeholders.

Another big change was confidence. Before Septa, I had a rough idea of project management. But after going through the program, I understood the concept clearly and could approach it with confidence.

5.What were you doing before you decided to transition into tech, and what influenced your decision?

Before my transition, I was mainly focused on data and projects. I loved working with datasets, analyzing them, and planning projects in my workplace. That combination made me realize I wanted to go deeper into project management as a career path.

6. What are you doing now, and how has Septa impacted your career so far? Right now, I’m volunteering as a Project Manager with EHCC Tech, where I get to put into practice many of the skills I gained at Septa. It’s been a very rewarding experience managing projects, working with teams, and applying Agile methodologies in real situations.

Septa has been a big part of this journey. The training gave me the confidence and the tools I needed, and it has already started opening doors, job opportunities and interview invites for project management roles are coming in, and I feel well-prepared to take on those challenges.

7. What was your overall learning experience like at Septa?

I’d describe it in one word; “enlightening”. The structure, mentorship, and support really helped me succeed. My favorite part was learning how to use Jira because it gave me hands-on skills I could immediately apply.

8. What advice would you give to someone considering transitioning into tech?
